According to the information spread on the Internet on March 7, russian armed forces allegedly had defeated the 81st Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and occupied the town of Izyum near Kharkiv.

However, the report that the enemy allegedly occupied Izyum is not true as of March 7, when the report was spread, nor as of March 13 – the latest data on Izyum from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to Deputy Mayor of Izyum Volodymyr Matsokin, Mayor Valery Marchenko refused the ultimatum of the russian military, received on March 5, and did not surrender the city. The mayor replied that he will remain the mayor of the Ukrainian city, and the main task of the city authorities is to save the lives and health of people and ensure the livelihood of the city, and not to conduct military operations.

According to the head of the City Council of Izyum Maxim Strelnikov, since the morning of March 11 fierce battles took place and explosions were heard in the city. The enemy was also shelling nearby villages. Due to the constant shelling along the “green corridor” in Izyum, neither humanitarian aid from the Red Cross nor evacuation buses could pass.

Information about the overthrow of the 81st Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is currently spread only by hostile propaganda sites. There is no official information from reliable sources about this.
