Social media spread a video clip allegedly showing a powerful explosion at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol.

Let us explain what’s wrong with it.

Deputy Commander of the Azov Regiment, Sviatoslav “Kalyna” Palamar, told Radio Liberty that Mariupol’s Azovstal plant had been bombed and almost wholly destroyed; russians were dropping heavy bombs on the plant.

However, the video spread on social networks did not show an explosion at the Azovstal plant. A Bing reverse search of video footage shows that this was, in fact, an explosion that occurred at a military depot in Balaklia, Kharkiv region, in 2017.
