The topic of the issue is Ukraine. We seek submissions of high-quality proposals or completed papers that shed new light on the origins of the crisis in Ukraine and ways out of the crisis (e.g., why Ukraine’s economy did not grow for 20 years, why political preferences are so polarized, why allocation of resources is poor, what institutions prevent Ukraine from modernization, how trade with the EU will benefit Ukraine, how Ukraine can learn from the experience of other countries, etc.).

The conference is tentatively scheduled for mid spring 2015 in Kyiv, Ukraine. A cash prize of USD 1000 will be awarded to the best paper.

Media and organizational support will be provided by VoxUkraine and its partners.

If you are interested, please send your proposal (2-3 pages) outlining a plan for the paper or a draft of the paper by Dec 15, 2014 to [email protected] and [email protected].

Please distribute this call to those who might be interested in participating.

Sincerely,

Tymofiy Mylovanov (U of Pittsburgh) & Yuriy Gorodnichenko (UC Berkeley)
