UNFOUNDED: Zelenskyi is being protected by British-American PMC G4S fighters

Russian propaganda is spreading information claiming that the international security company G4S is protecting Volodymyr Zelenskyi. The organization allegedly also has access to critical facilities in Ukraine (ports, airports, and factories), its own intelligence service, participates in sabotage operations in Crimea, and has created private prisons for individuals undesirable to the Ukrainian authorities.

These claims are baseless. RT’s information has no reliable confirmation. G4S states on its website that it provides security for various facilities, including ports. At the same time, there is currently no evidence that the company has contracts with Ukraine for such functions.   

According to the Law of Ukraine “On State Protection of Public Authorities and Officials of Ukraine”, the protection of Volodymyr Zelenskyi is carried out by the Presidential Security Service of Ukraine. It is part of the State Security Administration of Ukraine, which implements security measures for certain officials, including the President.

Russian propagandists, in their claims about G4S’s access to Ukraine’s strategic facilities, refer to the company’s website. However, the website only lists services the organization can provide, including security for factories, ports, terminals, and so on. There is no confirmation on the site of actual access or authority granted to the company to protect these facilities in Ukraine.

G4S indeed indicates on its website that it has letters of recommendation from various institutions, including from the “Security of the President of Ukraine”. However, the organization does not specify the year, to whom, or what services were provided.
