The  information about Ukrainian military allegedly destroying Russian border point in Shcherbakovo is promoted in social media.

But this is fake. Ukrainians did not shoot at the Russian border checkpoint.

Ukrainian armed forces could not possibly come closer than 30-50 kilometers to Shcherbakovo because villages that lie ahead of it are occupied by Russian forces. Village Shcherbakovo is situated at 40 km from the contact line with temporarily occupied territory of Rostov oblast. According to Minsk accord, all the Ukrainian artillery that could shot that far is placed away from the contact line and is constantly monitored by the OSCE mission.

Moreover, the destroyed building doesn’t look like a border checkpoint – it even doesn’t have a path nearby. There are no utensils in the building, whereas military personnel has to permanently live in a border checkpoint.

The Ukrainian Security Service intercepted the communication of Russia-backed gunmen and published the records. In one of the dialogues gunmen stated that they shot “a kiosk in Russia”. This is what was presented as a checkpoint shooting.
