Debunking fakes in partnership with Facebook.
On March 3, social media began to spread reports that “755 websites of the Ukrainian authorities” had been hacked as a result of a hacker attack, and “the entire government Internet” had stopped operating. These are sites with the domain gov.ua. Some posts include screenshots of several such sites that now show calls for the Ukrainian servicemen to “lay down their arms,” as well as fake appeals on behalf of Volodymyr Zelensky that he allegedly signed a peace treaty with russia.

However, this is a fake. Hackers hacked some regional governmental websites. This was reported on March 3 in the Telegram channel of the Security Service of Ukraine. “The enemy has hacked some sites of regional authorities and municipal governance and spreads through them lies about the alleged “capitulation and signing of a peace treaty with russia,”- said in a statement. On the other hand, the statement didn’t refer to other authorities at all.
As of March 3-4, the official websites of many central government bodies operated well. For example, websites of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers (Government Portal), the National Bank, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Information Policy, the Kyiv City Council portal, the Security Service of Ukraine and websites of other institutions worked well.
At the same time, as of March 4, there were problems with access to the websites of the President’s Office, the Ministries of Finance, Justice and Infrastructure. However, no cyberattack or hacking was reported.
