On August 15, 2025, the Council of the National Bank of Ukraine appointed Sergiy Nikolaychuk as the First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine. His areas of responsibility include financial stability, monetary policy and economic analysis, statistics and reporting, and European integration.
Sergiy Nikolaychuk had served as Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine since July 2021. From 2004 to 2019, he worked at the National Bank of Ukraine, rising through the ranks from economist to Director of the Department of Monetary Policy and Economic Analysis. From September 2019 to April 2020, he held the position of Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade, and Agriculture of Ukraine, and from April 2020 to July 2021, he headed the Macroeconomic Research Department at the ICU Group.
Sergiy Nikolaychuk is an honorary professor of practice at the Kyiv School of Economics, as well as a lecturer at Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University.
In 2004, he obtained an MA degree in Economics with honors from Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University. In 2008, he defended his dissertation on “Modeling the Transmission Mechanism of Monetary Policy in Ukraine” at the same university and received a Ph.D. in Economics.
