Verification within Meta’s Third-Party Fact-Checking Program
Russian Telegram channels are spreading a screenshot from Zelenskyi’s video address, where a board with military chevrons is visible behind him. One of those chevrons has been identified by propagandists as the supposed chevron of the Nazi 14th Waffen-SS “Galicia” Division, which they claimed depicts a lion with three crowns.
The chevron that propagandists mistook as the emblem of the 14th Waffen-SS “Galicia” Division belongs to the 1st Separate Siversk Tank Brigade. It actually depicts a horse in gear.

The chevron on Zelenskyi’s board does not belong to the “Galicia” division. The screenshot clearly shows that it does not feature three crowns.

The chevron on the board behind the President features a horse in gear. By searching on a website that sells Ukrainian chevrons, we managed to find the emblem that Russian propaganda falsely presented as the symbol of the 14th division. It belongs to the 1st Separate Siversk Tank Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
