The increase in energy tariffs has been one of the most discussed issues in the first half of 2016. Reformers have been criticized heavily by many experts and consumers. There is a popular view among the general public that the increase in energy efficiency could be an alternative to raising tariffs. If we decrease losses of energy on its way to the consumer, perhaps, it will not be necessary to raise tariffs? In this article, we are trying to check if this is true by using the available data on the energy production and consumption in Ukraine.
