Yuriy Gorodnichenko, a native of Ukraine, is a professor holding the Quantedge Presidential Chair in the Department of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley.
A significant portion of Yuriy’s research focuses on monetary policy (effects, optimal design, inflation targeting), fiscal policy (countercyclical policy, government spending multipliers), taxation (tax evasion, inequality), economic growth (long-term determinants, globalization, innovation, financial frictions), and business cycles.
Yuriy is a member of the editorial boards of several publications, including the American Economic Review and Vox Ukraine. He is the head of the Ukrainian Initiative at CEPR.
He is an active researcher, with his work published in leading economic journals and cited in policy discussions and media. He has received numerous awards for his research.
A graduate of the Bachelor’s program at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) and the master’s program at the Economic Education and Research Consortium (EERC), he obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
